Operatives of the Department of State Services have arrested a former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, over allegations of certificate forgery, marking a fresh twist in the legal battle surrounding the former cabinet member.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that Nnaji was arrested on Wednesday at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, while preparing to board a private jet.
The arrest comes barely weeks after a Federal High Court in Abuja reportedly granted the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission an order to arrest the former minister following allegations that he failed to honour repeated invitations by investigators probing the authenticity of his academic credentials.
The ICPC had told the court that Nnaji repeatedly ignored invitations issued in connection with investigations into alleged forgery, abuse of office and related offences.
The court subsequently authorised his arrest and also granted the anti-graft agency permission to declare him wanted pending his apprehension.
Nnaji, who resigned from President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet in October 2025 amid the controversy, has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
He had maintained that he was neither in hiding nor under investigation and described reports of an arrest warrant as false and politically motivated.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the DSS nor the ICPC had issued an official statement detailing the circumstances of Wednesday’s arrest or indicating when the former minister would be arraigned.
