An Enugu Air aircraft operating from Lagos to Benin was involved in a runway incident at Benin Airport on Thursday after it reportedly skidded off the runway shortly after landing.
The aircraft, an Embraer 170 with the call sign 5N-ENR, landed at about 1:57 p.m. UTC with 72 people on board.
Confirming the incident, Enugu Air said: “One of our aircraft operating into Benin experienced a runway incursion after landing today.”
The airline added: “We confirm that all passengers and crew have safely disembarked and there were no injuries or casualties.”
It further stated that “the aircraft has been secured and the relevant aviation authorities have been notified in line with established procedures. An assessment of the aircraft and the circumstances surrounding the occurrence is currently underway.”
Enugu Air also warned that the incident could affect its operations, saying: “As a result, there may be temporary adjustments to some flight schedules. Passengers affected by any changes will be contacted directly and provided with the necessary assistance.”
Reassuring passengers, the airline said: “The safety of our passengers, crew, and operations remains our highest priority. We appreciate your understanding and will continue to provide updates through our official communication channels.
“The cause of the incident has not yet been determined, while aviation authorities are expected to provide further updates following their assessment.
