EPL: Gerrard stopped me from leaving Liverpool – Salah

Liverpool forward, Mohamed Salah, has revealed that a conversation with the club’s legend, Steven Gerrard, saw him change his mind about an exit in January.

Salah was ready to quit the Reds after falling out with new manager Arne Slot.

But the 33-year-old made a u-turn following the visit of Gerrard, who urged him to leave Anfield on his own terms.

Salah has since announced he will depart as a free agent this summer.

In an interview with Gerrard on TNT Sports, Salah said: “People didn’t know you came to my house, we had a good conversation.

“You said your opinion and I really appreciate it.

“I am glad I am leaving now through the big door.

“That is something you mentioned to me, just leave on your terms, I still remember those words. I am happy about it. Everything that is going on this season makes me think, “No it’s time to go”.”
