Former Lagos State governor, Babatunde Fashola, has said that every Lagosian is to be held responsible for the cleanliness and waste management of the state.
He made this call during an interview with TVC News on the Beyond The Headlines program on Wednesday.
Speaking on concerns about waste management in Lagos, Fashola said, “I think Lagosians must choose what they want; if they want a clean city, then everyone must be responsible for it. Yes, government has a role to play, but how many tenements can government realistically monitor? Let’s be fair.”
On the way forward, Fashola urged that basic habit reinforcement should be implemented.
“There was a system from just dumping it into the bin, to bagging and from that we used to have this collector site in Dolphin, because also, all this tractors that are moving them will also come in the same traffic we are complaining about, everything i think should be done has been done, and i think we just need to go back to basic habit reinforcement.”
