Nigeria’s entertainment scene is bracing for a high-octane showdown as Fearless Energy Drink, a flagship brand of Rite Foods Limited, throws its weight behind the much-anticipated celebrity boxing bout, “Chaos in the Ring,” featuring controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, and Nollywood actor-comedian Charles Okocha.
The fight is scheduled for Friday, July 31, 2026, at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Tensions peaked at a pre-fight press conference where both celebrities came face-to-face in an intense stare-down that underscored the rivalry brewing since their first clash in December 2023 at Landmark Beach, Lagos.
Portable, never one to shy away from bravado, revisited the outcome of their previous encounter, taunting his opponent with, “You don chop am before… you go chop am again,” implying a repeat victory was inevitable.
Unmoved, Charles Okocha—also known as “Mr Algorithm” responded with equal confidence, dismissing the singer’s antics and declaring, “This chicken leg… let’s see how it goes on Friday,” signalling his determination to rewrite history.
Beyond the headline fight, the event promises a full slate of celebrity matchups, including bouts featuring Idowest and Mr Real, Great Britain’s Shiloh Defreitas (‘Sugar Shy’) versus Ghana’s Eric ‘Kojo’ Quarm, and Nigeria’s Rilwan Lawal against Yusuf Adeniji. Other fixtures include Basit Adebayo of Nigeria taking on Tanzania’s Said Chino.
With Fearless Energy Drink as the headline sponsor, organisers say the brand’s signature “I CAN, I AM” philosophy aligns with the bold, competitive spirit of the event. The brand, known for pioneering PET bottle packaging in Nigeria’s energy drink market with its Fearless Classic and Red Berry variants, continues to position itself as a disruptor in the segment.
Speaking at the press briefing, Brand Manager at Rite Foods Limited, Olaniyi Aderuku, noted that the sponsorship reflects the company’s commitment to engaging consumers through lifestyle-driven experiences that embody courage, action, and ambition.
According to him, “Chaos in the Ring provides another platform for the Fearless brand to ignite energy and inspire contestants to deliver their best performances.”
Also commenting, Group Chief Executive Officer of Balmoral Group, Ezekiel Adamu, described the event as more than just entertainment, highlighting its potential to showcase African talent, attract international partnerships, and deepen Nigeria’s growing sports and entertainment ecosystem.
As anticipation builds, fans across the country are eager to see whether Portable will maintain his dominance or if Okocha will deliver a dramatic upset in what promises to be one of the most talked-about celebrity fights of the year.
