Ghana Police Say Nana Akua Addo’s Husband, Harold, Will Be Arraigned After Hospital Discharge

The Ghana Police Service has said Harold Norman, husband of Ghanaian actress and fashion personality Nana Akua Addo, will be arraigned immediately after his discharge from hospital over allegations of domestic abuse.

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) said Nana Akua Addo petitioned the Director-General of the CID on August 20, 2026, alleging that her husband subjected her to physical, emotional and economic abuse.

According to the police, a previous case involving the couple had also been handled by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) at the Lakeside and Ministries Police Stations in July.

Following the petition, Norman was arrested at his residence on August 27 to assist with investigations. The police said he later gave a caution statement and was granted police enquiry bail with two sureties on August 29 while investigations continued.

Norman was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, October 7, but his lawyer informed the police that he had been admitted to hospital and could not appear.

Investigators from DOVVSU subsequently visited the hospital to verify the claim, while the police said they are monitoring the situation to ensure that he is arraigned immediately after his discharge.

The CID also said it is working with the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection to provide social welfare services for Nana Akua Addo and her children.

The police said they remain committed to protecting victims of domestic violence and ensuring that complaints are investigated professionally and fairly.
