Nollywood actor Femi Adebayo has called for respect and appreciation as fans continue to debate the achievements of two of Nigeria’s most respected acting legends, Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello, and Pete Edochie.
The discussion intensified after Pete Edochie appeared on Isbae U’s YouTube programme, Curiosity Made Me Ask, where the veteran actor described himself as the biggest actor in Nollywood. He also revealed that he does not have a favourite actor.
Following the comments, social media users began comparing the veteran actor with other celebrated figures in the Nigerian film industry, including Femi Adebayo’s father, Oga Bello.
Reacting to the growing debate on X, formerly known as Twitter, Femi Adebayo urged fans to appreciate the contributions of both legends instead of turning their legacies into a competition.
According to the actor, his father’s achievements should be recognised based on his own remarkable career and impact on the industry, rather than through comparisons with another actor. He also acknowledged Pete Edochie’s immense influence and described both men as important figures whose contributions have helped shape African cinema.
Femi’s message appeared aimed at discouraging the growing tension among fans, as he appealed for respect for individuals who have earned their place in the entertainment industry.
“Ahbeg ooo, give respect to everyone who duly and truly deserves it,” he wrote.
His statement has since attracted reactions from social media users. While some praised him for taking a mature approach to the debate, others argued that he should have avoided getting involved in the ongoing conversation.
