Glenfiddich has unveiled a new 16-year-old limited-edition whisky developed in collaboration with the Aston Martin Formula One Team.
The event, which brought together business and cultural leaders, creatives, celebrities and leading tastemakers, also marked the Nigerian launch of BEYOND, Glenfiddich’s international campaign built around its partnership with the Formula One team.
According to the company, the whisky was matured using five types of casks: first-fill bourbon barrels, Port casks, Fino Sherry casks, Oloroso Sherry casks and wine casks.
It is the second 16-year-old expression released under the partnership between Glenfiddich and the Aston Martin Formula One Team.
Glenfiddich said the collaboration draws on similarities between whisky production and Formula One engineering, particularly the attention to detail and long development processes both fields require.
The release was inspired by the work of Glenfiddich Malt Master Brian Kinsman and Aston Martin Formula One Team Managing Technical Partner Adrian Newey.
The first 16-year-old expression from the partnership was released in 2025 and matured using American oak wine casks, new American oak casks and second-fill bourbon barrels.
Glenfiddich and the Aston Martin Formula One Team announced their multi-year partnership in November 2024.
The company did not disclose the Nigerian price of the latest whisky, the number of bottles allocated to the country or when it would become available at retail outlets.
The Lagos event featured a product exhibition, whisky-tasting sessions and displays examining whisky production and Formula One engineering.
Guests also experienced a runway-style entrance and fashion and design elements built around the event’s “Sport Avant-Garde” dress code.
The company said the inclusion of Nigerian fashion, design and contemporary culture was intended to adapt the international campaign for a local audience.
The Lagos activation brought Glenfiddich’s global BEYOND concept into conversation with Nigeria’s creative scene, using fashion, music, design and contemporary culture to explore the relationship between heritage and modern expression.
Through the campaign, the brand sought to connect the precision associated with whisky-making and Formula One engineering with the creativity and individuality of Nigerian culture.
Nigerian creatives Nancy Isime, Swanky Jerry and Ifeanyi Nwene contributed to the campaign’s local expression, bringing perspectives from film, fashion, lifestyle, craft and design to the Lagos experience.
The Lagos activation was the first of two events planned in Nigeria. A second event is scheduled for Abuja on 10 October, with a greater focus on whisky collecting and production.
