God does not support war – Pope Leo XIV urges peace through dialogue

Pope Leo XIV has said that God does not support any form of conflict, stressing that true followers of Christ should not align with violence or war.

In a post on X, he said, “God does not bless any conflict. Anyone who is a disciple of Christ, the Prince of Peace, is never on the side of those who once wielded the sword and today drop bombs.”

He added that military force cannot bring real freedom or lasting peace.

According to him, “Military action will not create space for freedom or times of #Peace, which comes only from the patient promotion of coexistence and dialogue among peoples.”

The Pope emphasised that lasting peace can only be achieved through patience, dialogue and peaceful coexistence among nations and communities.

His admonition comes as Israel continues to attack southern Lebanon, killing civilians.

Iran has since said it will reject any peace deal that does not include a complete ceasefire in Lebanon.
