A Nigerian man has shared his strange encounter with a man who approached him like an interviewer, only to end up asking him to buy pizza.
According to him, the incident happened outside a supermarket while he was waiting for his friend, and what started like a normal interaction quickly turned suspicious.
“Apparently, there’s a new scam method in town. I stepped out of a supermarket and was waiting for my friend. I was just pressing my phone, trying to reach him, when one guy came up to me holding a small mic like he was doing an interview.
He said, ‘What’s up, bro? What’s your Instagram?’ I was like, ‘Why are you asking?’ but I still answered him. Then he asked for my name, and I told him. Next thing, he said, ‘Can you buy food for me?’” he said.
The man said he initially thought it was a prank, especially because of the microphone, but the situation took a different turn when the stranger insisted on getting pizza.
He added that he tried to offer a cheaper option, but the man refused, making the whole interaction even more suspicious.
“I asked him what kind of food he wanted, and he said pizza. I laughed and told him I couldn’t buy pizza, but I could get pastries since there was a pastry shop nearby.
But he refused and kept insisting on pizza. At that point, I was already looking around for cameras because I thought it was one of those prank videos. But the guy just walked off, entered a bus, and left,” he added.
The man said his friend later warned him that it might be a new strategy where people pretend to be content creators to pressure others into buying expensive items.
The story has sparked reactions online, with many warning others to stay alert as new tactics continue to emerge in public spaces.
