A tragic incident has sparked outrage in Lagos after a hospital in the Igando area allegedly detained a woman who had just given birth to quadruplets over an unpaid medical bill of ₦1.4 million.
According to reports by Punch Newspapers, the woman was held at the facility due to her inability to settle the bill. The situation reportedly took a devastating turn as she later passed away while still in detention. One of the newborns was also lost.
The incident has reignited public debate over the legality and ethics of detaining patients for unpaid hospital bills in Nigeria.
