Big Brother Naija Season 5 winner Olamilekan Moshood Agbeleshe popularly known as Laycon has left many emotional after opening up about how winning the reality show literally saved his mother’s life.
In a recent heartfelt interview on Echo Room, the rapper and singer revealed the deep personal stakes behind his victory. “If I did not win BBNaija, my mother would have been dead by now,” Laycon stated calmly while seated in the studio.

“By the time I came out, my mom was close to death. At saying it categorically now, if I did not win that show, if I had gone and came out second… my mum would be gone. If things went differently… my mum would be gone.”
Laycon, known for his loyalty to his mother (fondly called Mama Icon), has always been vocal about his love for her and the sacrifices she made.
Since winning in 2020, Laycon has built a successful career in music but has also spoken about post-BBNaija struggles, including losing his “inner voice” temporarily. He currently juggles roles as a scriptwriter, actor, singer, and rapper.
