As she approaches her 60th birthday, Iyabo Obasanjo, daughter of former president Olusegun Obasanjo, expresses gratitude for the fact that both of her parents are still with us. This was reported on Thursday, July 2, 2026, by the Nigerian Tribune.
Many individuals her age have lost one or both parents, she added, so it’s unusual for them to still have both parents living. This is something she says she doesn’t take lightly.
During her appearance on The Morayo Show, Iyabo discussed her upbringing and the unconventional ways in which her parents brought her up. According to her, her mother was the more severe parent, although she never resorted to physical punishment.
What her mother would do instead was have a serious conversation with her everytime she messed up. The lessons Iyabo learned from those chats have stayed with her ever since, she added.
