Veteran Nollywood actress, Chioma Chukwuka has shared a deeply emotional account of her personal journey, opening up about her decision to leave her marriage and rediscover herself.
The thespian revealed that her decision to walk away was not driven by a lack of love for her husband, but by a growing sense of losing her own identity.
According to her, she maintained appearances in public, smiling and wearing her wedding ring, while privately battling feelings of emptiness.
Chukwuka explained further that despite giving her all to the relationship, she eventually felt unseen and disconnected in a home she once built with love.
She noted that the emotional toll became overwhelming, leading her to make the difficult but necessary decision to leave.

“I never left my husband because I stopped loving him. I left because I was losing myself. I smiled in public and wore my ring, but inside I was empty,” she said.
The actress further revealed that reclaiming her identity included reverting from “Chioma Akpotha” to her maiden name, a step she described as reclaiming her peace and sense of self.
“Leaving wasn’t easy, but it was necessary… I didn’t lose a marriage. I found myself,” she added.
