First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has spoken about her relationship with Igbo people, recalling that she grew up around many Igbo schoolmates and describing them as very nice people.
Speaking about her personal experiences, the First Lady said her best friend in secondary school was an Igbo girl and that she continued to have mostly Igbo classmates in high school and at the tertiary level.
She said, “Igbos are very nice people. My best friend in secondary school was an Igbo girl. In high school and tertiary institution, were all Igbo because they said I look like an Igbo girl.”
Her comments have generated reactions online, with some Nigerians questioning why she was highlighting her relationship with Igbo people, particularly with the 2027 elections drawing closer.
Some users also brought up previous controversies involving statements associated with the First Lady, while others accused politicians of using such remarks to appeal to voters.
