Nigerian singer Spyro has opened up about a major mistake he made early in his music career, revealing that he signed a record deal without properly reviewing the contract.
The singer explained that he was persuaded to sign with the label because the person behind it had previously signed Nigerian music star Wizkid. According to Spyro, he was promised that the deal would turn him into a superstar.
However, after signing the contract, the singer said he eventually realised that he had made a serious mistake.
“I signed to a label without properly reading the contract because the person had previously signed Wizkid. He said he was going to make me a superstar. I realized I had made a big mistake, but thankfully, he was lenient and let me go after 4 years.”
Spyro’s revelation highlights the importance of artists carefully understanding the terms of record deals before putting pen to paper, particularly when entering the music industry with high expectations.
