A woman identified as Dr. Chinenye Ulunma Ogbonna-Martins has called out her ex-husband, Martins Ugo Ogbonna, over alleged domestic violence after 16 years of marriage.
In a lengthy social media post, Chinenye declared that she was no longer married to Martins and said she had decided not to return to what she described as “hell.”
She alleged that her former husband caused her years of emotional and physical trauma, claiming that she almost died twice this year and that he told people lies about her in an attempt to damage her reputation.
“I DECLARE THAT I AM NO LONGER MARRIED TO MARTINS UGO OGBONNA. I WANT NOTHING TI DO WITH HIM AND HIS ENTIRE FAMILY AND VILLAGE (UMUAWA village in Isiala Ngwa South LGA). I have rejected him and all of his family. When my kids grow up they will find me. I can never go back to hell,” she wrote.
Chinenye said she had spent 16 years praying, pleading and waiting for her husband to change, but alleged that things instead became worse.
“I prayed, begged and waited for change for 16 years. He promised he was going to change only to come back and almost drove me to the mental hospital,” she added.
She also explained that she had left their children in his care, saying they would find her when they grow up.
Chinenye further alleged that her former husband had forced her to change her surname to his and said she intended to change it again if she eventually remarried.
Her post has generated mixed reactions online, with some users expressing sympathy while others questioned her account.
