A woman has shared how she reached out to her husband’s former girlfriend before their marriage to learn about his past relationship, explaining that she wanted to be certain about her decision before committing to a lifelong union.
In a viral video, the woman revealed that her husband treated her exceptionally well when they started dating. However, his good character made her curious about why his previous relationship had ended.
Rather than rely solely on her partner’s account, she decided to hear directly from his ex-girlfriend to understand what had happened between them.
According to her, the conversation took place around 2018, before her traditional wedding, after she discovered that her husband had been in a relationship with the woman.
“When I met him, he was really, really good to me. And I’m like, if you’re really this good, if you’re not like for me, why did it not work out with whoever you were with?” she recalled.
She explained that she wanted to understand the circumstances surrounding the previous breakup instead of making assumptions based on what her husband had told her.
“I just wanted to know the story beyond what he told me,” she added.
The woman disclosed that she eventually found her husband’s former girlfriend on Instagram, where they exchanged messages about the past relationship.
She recently revisited their old conversation and was surprised by the length of their exchange.
During their discussion, she reportedly asked the former girlfriend if there was anything about her prospective husband that should make her reconsider getting married to him.
According to the woman, the ex-girlfriend congratulated her and assured her that she had no reason to be worried about marrying him.
She described the man as “an excellent guy” but explained that she had been distracted at the time and was no longer prepared to take on the responsibilities that came with the relationship.
The former girlfriend reportedly admitted that she had played a significant role in the breakup.
The conversation helped the woman gain a different perspective on her husband’s past, as she learned that their previous relationship had not necessarily ended because of any wrongdoing on his part.
She also revealed that her husband often laughed about her decision to contact his ex-girlfriend whenever she brought up the incident.
According to her, he would jokingly tell her, “You’re so crazy,” whenever she mentioned their conversation.
Despite his reaction, she maintained that her decision was driven by a desire to have a clearer understanding of his past before walking down the aisle.
“I didn’t want any surprises,” she explained.
Reflecting on the experience, the woman encouraged women to ask questions and seek clarity when they have genuine concerns about someone they intend to marry.
Although she acknowledged that contacting a partner’s former lover might not be the right approach for everyone, she believes gathering relevant information can help people make more informed decisions about their relationships.
“It’s always good to, as a woman, maybe not for everyone, but I would ask questions,” she said.
