“That Was Not Why God Called You”- Odumeje Tackles Pastors Who Preach About Tithes

Nigerian clergyman Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, popularly known as Pastor Odumeje, has criticised preachers who focus heavily on tithes in their sermons, questioning whether that should be the central message of their calling.

The controversial cleric acknowledged the importance of tithing but argued that it should not overshadow other aspects of Christian ministry.

Speaking on the subject, Odumeje said: “Tithe is real, but that was not why God called you.”

His statement suggests that pastors should look beyond messages centred on financial contributions and pay attention to other responsibilities associated with preaching the gospel.

Odumeje’s comments have brought renewed attention to discussions about tithing and the role of money in Christian worship, particularly regarding how frequently the subject should feature in church services.
