“‘I Will NEVER Believe It!’ — Security Expert Blasts ‘Repentant Bandits’ Narrative, Raises Fresh Fear Across Nigeria”

Dr. Yahuza Getso, a respected security expert, has openly rejected the idea of “repentant bandits” and “repentant Boko Haram” members, saying he does not believe such claims at all. His words are already sparking serious reactions across the country, especially as insecurity continues to worry millions of Nigerians.

Speaking during an interview on Trust TV, Getso did not hold back his concerns. According to him, the language being used by the government is not just misleading, but dangerous.

“Sometimes government used to say repentant bandits, repentant Boko Haram. This is the language I never believe in and I will never believe in,” he said firmly.

His statement hits hard, especially at a time when many Nigerians are hoping for lasting peace in troubled regions. While authorities claim that some fighters have surrendered and are being rehabilitated, Getso believes the situation is not that simple.

He warned that calling these individuals “repentant” without strict checks could open the door to more danger. According to him, some of these former fighters might pretend to change, only to return to violence later.

This concern is not new, but his bold rejection of the entire idea has added fresh fuel to the debate. Many are now asking: can people who once carried weapons against innocent citizens truly be trusted so easily?

Getso also stressed that Nigeria should focus more on strong intelligence, proper justice for victims, and strict monitoring systems. For him, safety should come first before any form of forgiveness or reintegration.

As insecurity continues to challenge the nation, his warning is making many Nigerians think twice about current strategies.
