Nollywood actress Funke Akindele has called out Air Peace following a prolonged delay of its London Gatwick to Lagos flight, which left passengers stranded for hours.
In a strongly worded statement, the actress described the situation as unacceptable, highlighting the condition of passengers, including elderly individuals, who were left without adequate support.
“Passengers (including elderly people) have been stranded since 6:30AM at London Gatwick Airport with no proper communication,” she said.
According to her, passengers were informed of a bird strike after several hours of waiting, with assurances that accommodation would be provided. However, she claimed that many were still left unattended.
“After hours of delay, we were told there was a bird strike and promised a hotel. Hours later, people are still sitting at baggage claim hungry, exhausted, and without their bags,” she added.
She further urged the airline to take immediate action: “Release passengers’ luggage immediately and provide the hotel you promised. Do something NOW.”
The incident has since sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing frustration over the handling of the situation.
In response, Air Peace acknowledged the delay, attributing it to safety checks following a bird strike and apologizing for the inconvenience. The airline also assured passengers that assistance was being coordinated through its ground staff.

I keep saying it @flyairpeace is the worst airline both in London and in Nigeria. They treat people like crap in Nigeria, that same attitude is the same thing they took to London. They are arrogant.
@admoscow1
This experience is actually similar to what this lady @FeneAustin has been complaining about for days now. At this point I don’t think any reasonable person should be risking their mental health for this airline.
@BetwizadTips
Airpeace name have spoilt since years back, they have no integrity left 💯

You hold on to their luggage without communication. Just left them stranded at the airport instead of taking them to their hotels. That’s not birdstrike, that’s lack of communication and disrespect for your customers
@Oyindamola_95
I have lost count of the number of people who have called them out. Something is really wrong somewhere which they need to work on.
@Ev0Ive
This is exactly how they behave back home, poor communication, zero accountability, and passengers left stranded.

@UmehWrites
Always shifting flight times like changing gears. People have lost appointments, meetings etc. due to these delays but it keeps happening all the time. Who is supposed to regulate all this?
