Nigerian businessman Mohammed Jammal has cried out after officials from development control allegedly moved against his family’s land in Jabi Lake, Abuja.
Jammal, in a post shared on X, appealed to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to intervene in the matter, claiming the land was meant for a park project known as Monoliza, Jabi.
He also disclosed that his father had undergone heart surgery the previous day and was currently recovering in hospital when the development reportedly occurred.
“My dad had a heart surgery yesterday and is in hospital and today @GovWike has sent development control to his land in Jabi while he’s in the hospital. If anything happens to my dad, walahi it will not be funny with anybody,” he wrote.
In another post, Jammal claimed the family had development control and ministerial approvals for the project and had also paid for the Rights of Occupancy and Certificate of Occupancy.
“Dear @GovWike, Your staff are trying to take one of our lands in Jabi lake. It’s meant for a park where we are building Monoliza, Jabi. We have development control approval and ministerial approval. We have paid for R of O and C of O since you requested that all parks do that. Kindly intervene on this matter.”
The development has generated mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians questioning Jammal’s claims while others argued that the government was right to reclaim land being used in ways that could contribute to flooding.
