“If your husband won’t let you vote APC, leave him” — APC Chairman tells women

Yobe State All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Muhammad Gadaka, has sparked widespread reactions after advising women to leave their husbands if they are prevented from voting for the ruling party.

Gadaka reportedly made the remark while addressing supporters in Hausa in a video that has since circulated widely on social media.

‘I’ll pay your bride price and marry you’

According to an English translation shared on social media, Gadaka said: “If your husband won’t let you vote APC, leave him; I’ll pay your bride price and marry you”.

The remark quickly generated mixed reactions, with many social media users criticising the politician’s approach to political campaigning.
