Veteran Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has clarified her position on polygamy, explaining that she has never been against the practice, contrary to what some people believe.
The actress made this clarification while speaking at an event, where she addressed what she described as a misconception about her views on men marrying more than one wife.
According to Rita, her concern is not with polygamy itself but with the manner in which some men introduce the idea of taking another wife, particularly when they fail to inform their first wives.
She stressed that her position has been misunderstood by some people, insisting that she has no objection to polygamy as a practice.
“Okay, let me correct an impression: I am never against polygamy. God in heaven knows, I am not against polygamy. But the fact remains, the way you present polygamy,” she said.

In other news… A Nigerian lady living in Europe has sparked conversations online after expressing concerns about the limitations of the Nigerian passport and urging Nigerians to consider obtaining citizenship or passports from other countries where possible.
The lady, whose comments have circulated on social media, advised Nigerians to explore opportunities to secure another passport, particularly for the benefit of their children.
According to her, holding only a Nigerian passport can make international travel and access to certain opportunities more challenging compared to citizens of countries with stronger passports.
She said, “As a Nigerian, our passport is very useless. I’ll advise you to do everything possible to get another passport, especially for your children’s sake. It’s a necessity.”
Her remarks have drawn attention to the difficulties some Nigerian passport holders encounter when travelling abroad, including visa requirements and restrictions that citizens of other countries may not face.
