Former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the presidency while backing Peoples Democratic Party candidates in Benue State.
Ortom made his position known while discussing his preferred candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
He said, “I’m supporting Bola Ahmed Tinubu for President, but for Benue State, the governor and other elections, I support PDP members.”
The former governor’s position means he intends to support Tinubu at the national level while throwing his weight behind PDP candidates for the governorship and other elective positions in Benue State.
His declaration has sparked mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians arguing that voters have the right to support different parties at different levels of government.
