Iran is set to respond to the latest US proposal on ending the war, despite sporadic clashes between the two in the Gulf that have been ongoing over the past week.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio had said the US was expecting a response on Friday, though Iran’s foreign ministry said it would be given at the appropriate time.
Clashes on Friday saw the US strike two Iran-linked vessels around the Strait of Hormuz, with the UAE saying its air defences engaged two ballistic missiles and three drones fired from Iran.
Meanwhile, in southern Lebanon, Israel has issued forced displacement orders to nine villages near Tyre, Sidon, and Nabatiyeh, despite an extended ceasefire in place.
Israeli air raids also targeted the outskirts of Nabatiyeh as well as several other towns early on Saturday, as drones hit the towns of al-Mansouri, Burj Rahhal, and Nabatiyeh al-Fawqa.
The order comes as the Israeli army announced it struck 85 Hezbollah targets over the past 24 hours.
