Apostle Johnson Suleman has sparked reactions online after cautioning pastors against spending excessive time watching comedy skits.
The General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International shared the warning during a recent church service, in a video that surfaced online on Wednesday, September 9.
Addressing members of the clergy, Apostle Suleman explained that there is a difference between having a laugh and constantly consuming entertainment that, in his view, offers little intellectual or spiritual value.
He warned that regularly watching content he considers below one’s intellectual level could negatively affect a person’s mental development.
“That thing does not only pollute your spirit, it kills your IQ. It kills your developmental capacity. You, when you watch things that are below your mind, your IQ drops,” he said.
The clergyman encouraged pastors and other listeners to become more intentional about the kind of content they consume, advising them to focus on materials that stimulate their minds and contribute positively to their spiritual lives.
According to him, spending a significant portion of the day scrolling through comedy skits could prevent people from developing themselves intellectually.
“You have to watch things that task your mind, things that are inspirational,” he added.
