A heartbreaking tragedy has shaken residents of Edjeba, Warri, after a man identified as Adedamola Michael Oyewole was arrested in connection with the alleged killing of his girlfriend inside his apartment.
According to reports, the victim had travelled from Port Harcourt to spend time with her boyfriend, unaware that the visit would end in tragedy.
Sources claim that moments before the incident, the woman became frightened and called one of her friends, allegedly telling the friend that Michael was trying to harm her. While the call was still ongoing, the friend reportedly heard the victim screaming in distress before the line went silent.
Neighbours were also alerted after the landlord reportedly heard loud cries coming from the apartment and immediately contacted the police. Officers who responded to the scene reportedly found the woman with multiple stab wounds. Authorities allege the suspect attempted to further mutilate her before people intervened. Watch video
The suspect was taken into police custody, while the victim’s body was evacuated for further examination. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.

According to reports circulating within the community, the suspect—described by residents as an alleged internet fraudster—lived on Ajidi Street in Edjeba. The deceased was said to be his longtime girlfriend, who frequently spent days or even weeks at his residence. Neighbours reportedly knew the pair as a close couple who were often seen together in the man’s white Lexus SUV.
