Reactions have continued to trail the decision of the Abuja Federal High Court to remand politicians and activist, Omoyele Sowore, in Kuje prison.
DAILY POST reports that Justice Mohammed Garba Umar, in a short ruling on Monday, ordered Sowore to be kept in prison pending the hearing and determination of his motion for stay of the order for revocation of his bail and bench warrant.
The activist is being prosecuted for allegedly making false claims against the person of President Bola Tinubu by referring to him as “a criminal” in a post he made on his X and Facebook accounts.
Reacting to the order for his remand, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, a younger brother to the convicted leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, expressed optimism that the activist will overcome.
In a post on his official Facebook page, Kanu wrote, “Know that you are not alone in this battle. Surely, from grass to grace. Oppression, suppression, and subjugation are never sustainable.
“You will always emerge victorious. The universe remains on the side of justice. Biafrans are earnestly praying for you.”
Also reacting, activist Martins Vincent Otse widely known as VeryDarkMan, VDM, in a post on his Facebook page, alleged that corruption has taken over the justice system.
He said, “All I can say here is that there is corruption in the Justice system in Nigeria. They are prosecuting him for calling Tinubu a thief, I don’t know Sowore’s interpretation of ‘thief’ but in my own interpretation, Tinubu’s government has robbed us of a lot of things.
“They robbed us of access to farm land and access to secured road. As I speak to you today, the whole Northern region has been taken over by terrorists and bandits.
“If you ask me, I would say that Tinubu’s administration is a thief. I am not a supporter of Sowore but that doesn’t mean we will be deaf ears about what is happening.”
Several other Nigerians have taken to their social media handles to condemn the move by the court, saying it is politically motivated.
