Kisii OCPD narrates last moments of officer found dead in station radio room

A 42-year-old police officer has allegedly taken her own life inside a radio room at Kisii Central Police Station, leaving colleagues shaken after no warning signs had been observed.

Corporal (W) Marjorie Bosibori, who worked as a signaller at the Kisii Central sub-county radio room, was reportedly discovered by a workmate who arrived to unlock the room at around 8 am on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

Kisii Central Sub-County Police Commander Musa Omari described the sequence of events that preceded the tragic discovery.

He also shared that the officer had been okay when she reported to work that day and showed no signs of distress or mental stress.

“They went to work with her colleague, and after work at midnight they returned to the station, and she said she wanted to use the bathroom, but she entered the radio room and locked herself inside. No one knows what happened there until her colleague reported in the morning and found the radio room locked and forced it open and found Bosibori’s body. She sat down with her gun beside her; we were called and found she had shot herself in the chest,” Omari said.

The OCPD added that Bosibori had given no indication of emotional distress during her shift and showed no outward signs of mental illness that those around her could have detected.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that Bosibori was found seated, with visible blood on her chest and an AK-47 rifle on the floor beside her, the room having been secured from the inside.

Crime scene investigators from DCI Kisii Central reportedly processed the radio room and collected several items as evidence, including the AK-47 rifle, one spent cartridge, a magazine still loaded with 29 rounds of ammunition, the padlock key used to secure the room, assorted medical drugs and three mobile phones.

According to investigators, the rifle had been officially issued to Bosibori the previous evening for a security assignment at Quickmart Supermarket in Kisii Town.

A thorough search of the scene and her personal belongings did not uncover any note. Her body was subsequently transferred to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
