Lady Sues MTN Over Father’s Arrests After Being Assigned Number Previously Used By Criminal

A Nigerian lady has reportedly taken legal action against telecommunications giant MTN after her father was allegedly arrested twice over a phone number linked to criminal activities committed by its previous owner.

According to the account, the lady’s father became a victim of circumstances after MTN reportedly reassigned a recycled phone number to him. Unknown to him, the number had allegedly been used by another individual for criminal activities before it was allocated to him.

The situation reportedly led to his arrest on two separate occasions, leaving his family to deal with the consequences of a case involving activities he allegedly had no knowledge of.

Frustrated by the experience, the lady decided to take the matter to court, holding MTN responsible for the distress her father had allegedly suffered as a result of the recycled phone number.

The incident has raised concerns about the potential consequences of reassigning previously used phone numbers, particularly when they have been linked to criminal investigations.

It has also sparked conversations about the responsibility of telecommunications companies to ensure that recycled numbers do not expose new subscribers to problems caused by previous users.

@Barristerr001:”If everyone they’ve done this type of illegal act before can do this Exact what this my sister do here, they won’t keep trying it, but most of us  in this country are educated but poor, but those that are not educated are they most worse, this was cause by our government that do not care for the life of there citizens, they see us as nothing.  May Olodumare change this country for better. Let keep praying for our dear mother language whenever we wake up, God bless Nigeria 🇳🇬 🙏 💚🤍💚”

@Ikedichipeter:”This is totally unacceptable! MTN cannot just recycle phone numbers without proper checks and leave innocent Nigerians to suffer the consequences of another person’s criminal activities. Imagine being arrested twice for something you know nothing about. MTN must take responsibility, investigate this matter and compensate the family if negligence is established. Nigerians deserve better service and protection! 😡”

@P Olabanji:”This is a terrible thing on the part of mtn, you just assign number to people. Problems you don’t know anything about whill just come out of nowhere”
