The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed a Celestial Church of Christ parish and 11 other establishments across the state over persistent violations of environmental regulations.
According to a statement on Wednesday, the enforcement exercise was carried out on Tuesday, across Ogba, Idimu-Ikota, Ejigbo, LASU-Iba Road, Igando and Agodo-Egbe areas of Lagos State.
The affected establishments were sealed for various violations, including noise pollution, non-compliance with LASEPA directives and obstruction of duty, despite repeated warnings and abatement notices issued by the agency.
The sealed establishments include Thrillz Lounge on Odusanmi Street, Ogba; Feixiang Plastic along LASU-Ojo Road; Marvel Hotel & Suites at Igando; Keviz Hotel & Suites on LASU-Iba Road; DSN Hotel & Suites on LASU-Igando Road; and Rudaj Vegetable Oil on Igando Road.
Others are Celestial Church of Christ (Aduragbemi Parish) in Ikotun, Limas in Abaranje, Nico Hotel & Suites in Ejigbo, 10Kobo Night Club in Agodo-Egbe, Master Furniture on Idimu-Ikota Road and Nikky’s Executive Bar & Lounge on Governor’s Road, Ikotun.
LASEPA said the exercise was conducted in line with the Lagos State Government’s directives to ensure compliance with environmental laws, safeguard public health and promote a cleaner and safer environment for residents.
Speaking on the enforcement operation, the agency’s General Manager, Dr Babatunde Ajayi, reaffirmed LASEPA’s commitment to protecting public health and preserving the environment through sustained monitoring, regulatory compliance and enforcement of environmental standards.
Ajayi said environmental compliance was a collective responsibility, stressing that the agency would continue to intensify enforcement against individuals, businesses, religious organisations and corporate bodies whose activities pose risks to the environment, public health and the wellbeing of Lagos residents.
He urged business owners, facility operators, religious institutions, scrap dealers and residents across the state to embrace environmentally responsible practices, obtain necessary permits and approvals, and comply fully with applicable environmental regulations.
