Nigerian singer Jaywon has joined the growing conversation surrounding South African music star Tyla’s proposed performance in Lagos, sharing a strong opinion that has sparked fresh debate online.
Taking to his social media page, Jaywon addressed the controversy by referencing past incidents of xenophobic attacks in South Africa, where several foreign nationals, including Nigerians, reportedly suffered violence and lost their businesses.
According to the singer, those who remained silent during those difficult moments should not expect Nigerians to welcome Tyla with open arms now.
In his words:
“If you didn’t speak up when foreigners were being attacked and their properties taken, make she dey her country.”
Jaywon’s statement comes amid increasing backlash over Tyla’s scheduled Lagos show. In recent days, the planned concert has generated heated discussions across social media, with many Nigerians expressing mixed reactions.
