Media personality Daddy Freeze has weighed in on the growing controversy surrounding South African singer Tyla, describing the backlash against her as hypocritical.
Reacting to the online campaign calling for Nigerians to boycott the singer, Daddy Freeze questioned why many people were directing their anger at Tyla while continuing to patronize South African-owned businesses operating in Nigeria.
According to him, there is an obvious contradiction in criticizing the award-winning singer while still using products and services from major South African companies.
In his words:
“This is a bit of hypocrisy. Why are Nigerians holding Tyla accountable? The phones many of you are using to make these posts have MTN SIM cards in them, and many people watched DSTV last night.”
His remarks have sparked fresh conversations across social media, with users expressing differing opinions on the issue. While some agreed with his argument that entertainers should not be blamed for political or diplomatic disputes, others insisted that Nigerians have the right to decide who and what they choose to support.
