Veteran Nollywood actress Bukky Wright has opened up about the deeply personal circumstances that pushed her into acting, revealing that her journey into the film industry was not driven by fame or stardom.
In an emotional interview at the Scar2Shine Emiralty Connect event, the actress explained that she turned to acting during a painful period in her life after being separated from her children at a very young age.
According to her, her initial motivation was simply to create a path where her children could easily find and recognise her in the future.
“I started acting so my children could find me when they grow up. I never planned to be famous,” she said.
Bukky Wright further revealed that the separation from her children happened shortly after she married into a wealthy family, where she felt heavily judged and underestimated by her in-laws.
“My children were taken away when they were still very young because I married into a rich family that didn’t believe I could achieve anything,” she explained. “But I’m here today.”
Her revelation drew emotional reactions and support from the audience as she reflected on how far she has come despite the challenges.
