The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has endorsed the call by the Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, for greater harmonisation of regulatory and operational activities across Nigeria’s electricity market.
Speaking at a workshop on decentralising the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) in Abuja, NERC Chairman, Dr. Musiliu Oseni, stressed the need for stronger collaboration among stakeholders to improve electricity supply across the country.
Oseni said Nigerians are less concerned about which institution regulates the sector and are more interested in having access to stable and reliable electricity.

He urged federal and state regulators, as well as other industry stakeholders, to sustain dialogue and collaboration, proposing more frequent meetings between the Federal Government and states through the National Council on Power (NACOP).
Also speaking, Minister of Power Joseph Tegbe said harmonising regulatory and operational frameworks remains critical to expanding electricity access nationwide and ensuring the continued growth of the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry.
