Nigerian Economics Champion Reportedly Misses Global Competition in China After Government Reportedly Declines to Fund Trip

A Nigerian student from Ebonyi State, Bryan Eze, reportedly missed the International Economics Olympiad in China after qualifying to represent Nigeria at the global competition.

Eze emerged as Nigeria’s National Economics Olympiad winner, earning the opportunity to represent the country at the International Economics Olympiad in China.

However, according to the report making the rounds online, the Federal Ministry of Education reportedly said there was no money to sponsor his participation, while the Ebonyi State Government was also said to have declined to provide funding.

As a result, the young scholar reportedly missed the international competition despite successfully qualifying to represent Nigeria.

The development has sparked disappointment on social media, with many Nigerians questioning why funding could not be provided for a student who had earned the opportunity to represent the country internationally.
