Ambassador Reno Omokri has said Nigeria has recorded significant improvements in security, anti-corruption efforts, and economic performance, citing data from international organisations.
Speaking in an interview, Omokri argued that Nigeria’s progress should be assessed using independent global reports rather than relying solely on government claims.
He referenced the Global Terrorism Index (GTI), stating that terrorism-related d+aths in Nigeria reportedly dropped from 7,752 in 2015 to about 550 in the most recent report.
“Things are getting better in Nigeria,” he said, while noting that “even one d+ath is too much,” but insisting that the country has made substantial progress in reducing insecurity compared to previous years.
Omokri linked the rise of t+rrorism in parts of the Sahel and Nigeria to the aftermath of the fall of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, which he said contributed to the spread of armed groups across the region.
On the economy, he stated that Nigeria has added billions of dollars to its GDP in recent years and remains one of the fastest-growing economies globally, citing projections from international financial institutions.
“We’re not there yet. We still have a lot of work to do, but things are getting better in Nigeria exponentially,” he said.
He also added: “When You Focus On Facts, Not Emotions, Data Proves Nigeria Is More Secure Under President Tinubu Than 8 Years Ago, And State Police Will Further Improve Security.”
