No Child Should Endure Kidnapping, Peter Obi Says After Oyo Rescue

Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has welcomed the safe rescue of the schoolchildren who were abducted in Oyo State, describing their return as a development worthy of thanksgiving.

In a statement on Saturday, Obi expressed relief and gratitude over the children’s freedom, commending the security personnel and everyone who worked behind the scenes to secure their release.

“I am greatly relieved and delighted to learn of the safe rescue of the schoolchildren who were kidnapped. I sincerely thank all those whose tireless efforts made their freedom possible, especially the security personnel and everyone who worked behind the scenes,” he said.

While celebrating the successful rescue, Obi stressed that no child should have to endure the trauma of abduction, noting that the recurring kidnapping of schoolchildren highlights the urgent need to strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture.

He urged the government to prioritize the protection of lives and property, adding that children deserve to pursue their education in a safe environment free from fear and violence.

Obi also rejoiced with the rescued children, their families, schools, and Nigerians, reiterating his message that “A new Nigeria is possible.”
