The Chairman of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA), Honourable Shedrack Chukwu Ogbogu, has approved the distribution of free application forms for the 2025/2026 part-time admission programme at the Omoku Learning Centre of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) College of Continuing Education.
The initiative is aimed at expanding access to university education for qualified indigenes of ONELGA, especially candidates seeking admission without writing the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination.
According to the council chairman, the programme is open to eligible applicants who possess complete O’Level results.
Ogbogu said the move forms part of his administration’s commitment to human capacity development across the local government area.
“This opportunity is designed to support our people who want to further their education through a flexible and affordable learning system,” he said.
The council also highlighted that the programme does not require JAMB or any entrance examination, making it easier for interested candidates to secure admission into UNIPORT’s continuing education programme.
It further noted that certificates issued under the programme will not carry any part-time designation.
According to the chairman, beneficiaries will also receive a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) exemption certificate after graduation, while lectures will be conducted at Modern Boys Secondary School, Omoku.
Speaking on the application process, the Councillor representing Ward 6 in the ONELGA 9th Legislative Council, Honourable O.P. Ikwuladi, advised prospective applicants to obtain their forms through their respective Ward Councillors.
The development is expected to provide more education opportunities for youths and residents of ONELGA seeking university admission through alternative pathways.
