Afrobeats star Davido has weighed in on the growing conversation surrounding the 2027 presidential election after a video of NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi surfaced online.
The clip featured Obi discussing his business background, financial history and how he accumulated his wealth before venturing into public office. In the video, the former Anambra governor also challenged other politicians to publicly account for their assets and finances with a similar level of transparency.
Obi’s remarks quickly sparked discussions across social media, attracting reactions from Nigerians, supporters, critics and several public figures.
Joining the conversation, Davido shared his thoughts on the viral video. Although his comment was brief, the singer appeared to suggest that other politicians might not be willing to subject themselves to the same level of financial scrutiny.
Reacting to the clip, Davido wrote, “None of them can try it.”
His comment generated further reactions, with some Nigerians agreeing with his position while others questioned his approach to political conversations.
One social media user took a swipe at the singer, accusing him of becoming vocal about politics only at certain times.
The netizen wrote, “No be when presidential election reach you go turn to deaf and dumb oh, now your mouth dey sharp, keep it up.”
Davido, however, appeared unbothered by the criticism and responded with a short remark:
“Nah, by force? 😀”
The exchange has since added another layer to the ongoing online debate, with Nigerians sharing different opinions about Davido’s reaction to Obi’s financial disclosure challenge and the singer’s involvement in political discussions.
