Supporters and political associates of Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, have mobilised more than N1 billion to back his anticipated bid for the Ogun State governorship in 2027.
The funds were channelled through the “Friends of Yayi Support Initiative,” drawing contributions from a broad network that includes politicians, business figures, traditional rulers, and community leaders.
Documents reviewed indicate that as of April 29, 2026, total donations stood at N967.4 million. However, additional contributions from key backers have since pushed the figure beyond the N1 billion mark, positioning it among the most significant early fundraising efforts ahead of the 2027 elections in Ogun State.
A notable contribution came from Hon. Kayode Jelili Amusan, an aspirant under the All Progressives Congress, who stepped down in support of Adeola and donated N25 million.
Other major donors include Senator Lanre Tejuoso, who gave N40 million; Dr. Isiak Kunle Salako with N26 million; and Senator Lekan Mustapha, Asiwaju Tele Ogunjobi, and Hon. Bukola Olopade, who each contributed N20 million. Alhaji Ibrahim Egungbohun (IBD Dende) and Chief Bode Mustapha donated N30 million each.
Several additional contributors—among them Dr. Fred Omojole Omolayo, Fatai Adesegun, Dr. Tunde Osinowo, Alhaji Isiaq Abass Saccobass, and Alhaji Akeem Ibrahim (HIMRA)—donated N10 million apiece.
Traditional rulers also featured on the donor list, with Oba Adesegun Alowonle of Emuren contributing N10 million and Oba Kazeem Adesina, the Osobia of Makun, donating N5 million.
Political stakeholders such as Hon. Jagunmolu Akande Omoniyi and Pastor Tunde Osho (alongside associates) each gave N25 million, while several others, including Hon. Jubril Adewale and Ajibola Fatgbems, contributed N10 million each.
Sources say the scale of financial backing reflects Adeola’s expanding political network as consultations intensify ahead of the 2027 governorship race. The growing support base is expected to further strengthen his standing within Ogun State’s political landscape as preparations for the contest gather pace.
