OPEP troops arrest suspected drug peddler, recover cannabis in Plateau

A 25-year-old suspected drug peddler has been arrested by troops of Operation Enduring Peace, OPEP, and substances suspected to be cannabis recovered from him at Angware in Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Security analyst, Zagazola Makama, in his post on X on Monday quoted security sources saying that the arrest was made at about 9:30 pm on November 1, 2026, by troops of Sector 1, Sub-Sector 12, during a patrol in the area.

He said, “The suspect was identified as Samana Ayuba, 25.”

Makama said the troops intercepted the suspect and recovered a quantity of substances suspected to be cannabis during the operation.

Following the arrest, he explained that the suspect and the recovered items were handed over to Keystone Division, Angware, in Jos East Local Government Area for further investigation and necessary action.

He stated that the operation forms part of ongoing efforts by troops of Operation Enduring Peace to combat criminal activities, including illicit drug trafficking, and enhance security across Plateau State.
