Yobe State Government has commenced a three-day training on emerging technologies for financial managers across Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, as part of efforts to modernise public financial management in the state.
The Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa Shehu, declared the workshop open on Monday in Kano.
With the theme “Emerging Technologies in Public Financial Management: Applications of Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain and Forensic Analytics for Public-Sector Financial Managers,” the training is aimed at equipping officers with modern tools to enhance transparency, accountability and efficiency.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare Office and Overseas Manpower Development Office, Shuaibu Ibrahim Amshi, the HoS said the programme reflects the commitment of Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration to human capital development and building a technology-driven civil service.
“Technologies such as AI, blockchain and forensic analytics offer practical solutions to challenges like fraud detection, revenue forecasting, transparent procurement and effective monitoring of public expenditure”, he noted.
Shehu urged participants to apply the knowledge gained to improve professional practices, stressing that innovation, integrity and professionalism are key to effective public financial management.
The Lead Consultant, Malam Abdulrazaq Ibrahim, lauded Governor Buni, the Head of Service and the Focal Person on Training and Succession Planning, Comrade Ibrahim Bulama Yusuf, for ensuring the success of the programme.
He expressed optimism that the workshop would equip participants with practical skills to strengthen financial governance and service delivery.
Also speaking, Comrade Ibrahim Bulama Yusuf described the training as part of the government’s broader succession-planning strategy to prepare officers for future leadership responsibilities, recalling the administration’s sustained investment in capacity building through institutions like ASCON.
