Nottingham Forest are in the market for a new centre-forward this summer transfer window.
After looking at Jean-Philippe Mateta earlier this year, it seems Nottingham Forest have pivoted their attention elsewhere.
Oliver Glasner is now showing an interest in Chelsea striker Liam Delap, who is thought to be valued at around £40m.

Delap has struggled since joining Chelsea in a £30m deal last summer, as he’s netted just three goals.
But, his former Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola knows there is a top player in there.

Pep Guardiola was a big admirer of Liam Delap
Speaking back in 2022 when Delap was at Man City, Guardiola spoke about the young striker’s exceptional physicality and labelled him a ‘quality’ player.
“Every training session, against Aymeric (Laporte), against Ruben (Dias), against John (Stones), Nathan (Ake); he fights, and most of the time wins the duels… or breaks his nose or something like that!
“If you fight in every training session, it will pay off in your career. What he (Delap) has to do is work for himself, do what he is doing and be fit. Be patient and in the right moment for the quality he has, he will get what he deserves.”
A year prior to that, Guardiola also publicly stated that Delap was the future of Man City.
“Liam Delap, for me, for the club, is so important for the future.”

Indeed, it didn’t quite work out for the England under-21 international at City, but clearly Guardiola spotted real talent in him.
Glasner could be the right manager to get him back firing and fulfil his lofty potential, as he got a real tune out of Mateta, who was very hit and miss prior to the Austrian’s arrival at Palace.
If Evangelos Marinakis and his chiefs can negotiate Chelsea’s £40m asking price down to around £30m, it’d be a no-brainer to sign Delap.
