Police in the Federal Capital Territory have confirmed the assault of Big Brother Naija All-Stars winner, Ilebaye Odiniya, following a distress call from a residence in Wuye, in the early hours of Saturday.
The FCT Police Command said the incident occurred on May 9, 2026, at about 12:00 a.m. at Royal Anchor Estate, where officers responded to reports of an ongoing physical assault involving the reality TV star and her father, Hon. Emmanuel Odiniya.
According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, a patrol team from the Wuye Division, backed by operatives of the Department of Operations, was immediately deployed to the scene. The spokesperson also monitored the intervention.
“Upon arrival, officers discovered that the gate to the residence was locked. After several attempts, access was gained into the compound at about 2:30 a.m. Ms. Ilebaye Odiniya, who was found with visible bruises, was rescued alongside her brothers and rushed to NNPC Hospital, Abuja, where she received medical attention,” the statement read.
Adeh added that Hon. Emmanuel Odiniya has since been taken into custody while investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The development followed a distressing live video shared on social media in which Ilebaye was seen crying for help appearing visibly injured, with a swollen her face.
Ilebaye rose to national prominence after winning the 2023 Big Brother Naija All-Stars edition, a victory that earned her widespread popularity and a N120 million grand prize. Since her emergence from the reality show, she has remained a prominent figure in Nigeria’s entertainment space with a large social media following.
As of the time of filing this report, the police said investigations were ongoing and no further details had been released on what led to the altercation.
