Nigerian singer Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy, has expressed excitement after receiving a certificate of recognition during his ongoing tour in Australia, days after his twin brother made headlines over a personal announcement.
The former P-Square member shared the moment on Thursday, April 23, via a video posted on Instagram, where he showed the award presentation and the celebration that followed.
Rudeboy revealed that the certificate was presented by Australia’s Minister for Cultural Interests, Tony Dr Bull, in recognition of his contributions to music and cultural exchange. In the clip, the singer appeared delighted as he held up the certificate, which was given as part of activities organized around his tour performances in the country.
The recognition comes shortly after his twin brother, Peter Okoye, also known as Mr P, made a public statement announcing changes to how he celebrates his birthday. Peter disclosed that he would no longer mark his birthday on November 18, but instead observe it on November 30, a move that drew public attention.
The Okoye twins, born on November 18, 1981, rose to fame as members of the iconic music duo P-Square, one of Nigeria’s most successful pop groups.
The pair initially went their separate ways in 2017 following disagreements over management, finances, and creative differences. Although they reconciled in 2021 and released new music together, the reunion was short-lived as both later returned to their solo careers.
