Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has launched the pilot phase of the Adopt-A-School PBAT Feeds Programme, tagged “Snacks for Thought,” and called on the private sector to partner with the government by adopting public primary schools across the state.
The development was announced in a post on the Lagos State Government’s official X account on Wednesday.
According to the post, the programme, launched at the Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area, is part of the Renewed Hope National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme aimed at improving child nutrition, boosting learning outcomes and strengthening human capital development.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. ‘Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, Governor Sanwo-Olu said the initiative reflects the shared commitment of the Federal Government, Lagos State Government and the private sector to securing a brighter future for Nigerian children.
He described the programme as more than a school feeding initiative, saying it is founded on the belief that no child should be denied the opportunity to learn because of hunger.
Sanwo-Olu commended President Bola Tinubu for prioritising education, nutrition and human capital development under the Renewed Hope Agenda, while also acknowledging First Lady Oluremi Tinubu for her advocacy for children, women and vulnerable groups.
The governor noted that nutritious meals would improve school attendance, classroom participation and academic performance, while also creating economic opportunities for farmers, food processors, caterers and other local businesses through increased demand for locally sourced food.
He reaffirmed that education and human capital development remain central to the Lagos State Government’s THEMES+ Agenda, citing continued investments in classrooms, teacher development, digital learning infrastructure and school health programmes.
Sanwo-Olu urged corporate organisations, financial institutions, professional bodies, charitable foundations, faith-based organisations, alumni associations and well-meaning individuals to support the initiative by adopting public primary schools across the state.

He also unveiled the Adopt-A-School Dashboard, describing it as a platform that promotes transparency and accountability by allowing sponsors to identify schools, monitor projects and track the impact of their interventions in real time.
The governor assured prospective partners of the state government’s commitment to providing an enabling environment for the programme and directed relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies to work closely with programme coordinators to ensure its successful implementation.
