Shettima to attend Governor AbdulRazaq’s turbaning as Sardauna of Ilorin

Governor AbdulRazaq will become the first person to hold the title of Sardauna of Ilorin, which makes him the Defence Minister of Ilorin Emirate

Vice President Kashim Shettima is scheduled to be in attendance on Wednesday as Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is turbanned as Sardauna of Ilorin Emirate at the state capital.

Billboards, banners, and influx of guests from the airport and major highways into the town have been observed in various parks.

Governor AbdulRazaq will be turbaned by the Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, at the palace at 1 p.m.

Mr AbdulRazaq will become the first person to hold the title, which makes him the Defence Minister of Ilorin Emirate.

Vice President Shettima is expected to lead top dignitaries to the event, including state governors, ministers, and lawmakers from across Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the Kwara State Government said it will commission two flagship projects as part of the activities during the state event.

The Vice president will inaugurate the Kwara Garment Factory during his visit.

According to the Senior Special Assistant to Governor on Communications, Ibraheem Abdullateef, the factory can employ over 4000 workers at full capacity, while over 500 staff are currently employed for the official takeoff phase.

Mr Shettima will also commission the multi-storey Revenue House of the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS).

Ahead of the turbanning, the Emir of Ilorin’s palace has worn a new look following renovation over the week.

Freshly painted, the palace is adorning banners of different community associations, political groups, and stakeholders.

Earlier during the announcement in August 2024, the emir said he bestowed Mr AbdulRazaq with the title in recognition of his achievement as state governor and his contributions to the growth and development of the Ilorin Emirate.
