Residents of Angwan Durun-Uwa community in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State were thrown into panic on Thursday following the discovery of the decomposing body of a be-headed woman inside a sack at a refuse dump.
The identity of the deceased remained unconfirmed as at the time of filing this report.
A youth leader in Barkin Ladi, Danjuma Ibrahim, who confirmed the incident, said he received a distress call at about 7am informing him that a body had been abandoned at the refuse site.
He explained that he immediately alerted the police, who responded to the scene.
According to him, the body had already begun decomposing by the time it was discovered, making identification difficult.
The corpse was later evacuated from the scene, while investigations have commenced to establish the victim’s identity and track down those responsible for the k!lling.
Efforts to obtain confirmation from the spokesperson of the Plateau State Police Command, SP Alfred Alabo, were unsuccessful as at the time of filing this report.
